Siegel & Shuster Society

HONORING THE CREATION OF SUPERMAN IN CLEVELAND, OHIO

Our Mission

The Siegel & Shuster Society is a non-profit all volunteer organization dedicated to commemorating and celebrating the creation of Superman in Cleveland, Ohio by Jerry Siegel and Joe Shuster.

The Siegel and Shuster Society was created in 2007 after Mike Sangiacomo, a frustrated Plain Dealer reporter and lifelong Superman fan, authored a scathing article demanding that the city of Cleveland do something to honor and celebrate the creation of Superman in Cleveland by Jerry Siegel and Joe Shuster.

Celebrate a Legend:

The Jerry Siegel & Joe Shuster Tribute Plaza, located in front of the expanded Huntington Convention Center in the heart of downtown Cleveland, serves as a lasting tribute to the creators of Superman. The plaza features an 18-foot-tall stainless steel sculpture honoring the Man of Steel, sculpted and cast by Cleveland artist David Deming, alongside bronze statues of Jerry Siegel, Joe Shuster, and Joanne Siegel, the original model for Lois Lane.

The Jerry Siegel & Joe Shuster Superman Plaza was officially unveiled on August 2, 2025, at the Huntington Convention Center in Cleveland, Ohio.
